Is people gaining someone else’s soulbond a thing that’s possible?
I just realized I didn’t answer the second part of this post.
The short answer is ‘yes, it is technically possible to gain someone else’s soulbond’.
The long answer is that this almost only ever happens to people who are already very mentally in tune, and who regularly talk to one another’s soulbonds through their soulbonders. Its not a common, or particularly helpful experience. Soulbonds almost never carry messages between soulbonders. More often soulbonds visit another bonder in order to prank them, give them weird dreams, or hang out with that person’s soulbonds when the two soulbonders are not in contact.
Most times someone gains someone else’s soulbond, its only for a little while, and then they go back to their primary bonder. Usually between minutes and days.
Sometimes however, a soulbond will move permanently and take up residence in a new bonder. I have generally only seen this happen when the original soulbonder gives up/stops believing in soulbonding, or loses contact with another bonder whose bonds they were very attached to.
