occult and supernatural

captain-s-mindfang:

(please note, this post is quite serious, but also somewhat tongue-in-cheek)

I feel like a lot of people don’t get just how spiritual I am. So often I feel like people esspecially the annoying harassers who read one or two of my posts and decidethey know everything about me and about fictionkin, just look at my writing and see an annoying, “self-deluded” weeaboo.

But what they’re really looking at is an annoying “self-deluded” new-age spiritualist pagan occult supernaturalist, who also happens to also be a weeaboo.

When I was a little kid, I watched pretty much every haunting/bigfoot/UFO documentary they showed on TV. I loved In Search Of, and Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction, and Unsolved Mysteries. I’m fairly certain I’ve seen every stand alone UFO documentary produced between ~1979 and ~2003 (after that they became so common they were hard to keep up with). When I was 10, I did summer camp and the library and to teach us how to do research with computers we had to research and write an essay. I wrote mine on the Loch Ness Monster (which, btw, ever since that essay I am convinced is not a physical monster but probably a faerie or water spirit that phases in and out of being. It being a real animal is completely impossible given the evidence.)

My father, who went through religions like candy, went through a magician phase and left all kinds of useful books around the house. I had read Bucklands Complete Book of Witchcraft by the time I was 11 or 12. Since then I have been building my own not so little library of the occult, which includes everything from a number of the Weird US series, several occult and paranormal encyclopedias, 2 versions of the Necronomicon, various books on reincarnation, books on tarot and runes, palmistry and other types of divination, mythology books, collections of hauntings, books on astral travel and lucid dreaming, books on contacting the dead, books on cryptozoology, vampires and werewolves, books on fairies, books on reading auras, and I could go on and on. I’ve got a lot of books. Chances are if there is a myth, superstition, or legend I’ve read about it, and can tell you about it.

I own crystals, and tarot decks, rune sets, pendulums, and a ouija board, as well as a bunch of occult jewelry. (I’m partial to stars, and snake imagery.)

I am an empath. I can sense, absorb, and direct the emotional energies of others. You can disbelieve that if you want to, but it’s something that’s very real to me.

I’ve been a pagan since I was about 13 or 14 years old, when I had a dream where I was sitting in a huge mead hall, surrounded by big burly men. I turned to my left, and there was a sly redhead sitting beside me, who offered me a drink. I’ve been a devotee of Loki since then, and I am very much a norse pagan in general. I am a practicing witch. Yes, witch is a title completely acceptable for males too.

I am also a skeptic; always looking to pick apart tangible (not spiritual!) claims of the supernatural and paranormal. I am curious about the existence of ghosts on this earth, and whether or not we’ve been visited by aliens, which I have no strong proof of either way. I am very much a nitpicker when it comes to paranormal sightings and claims of magical powers. I believe that a lot of paranormal experiences may be internally real, but not externally real. Also a lot of them are hoaxes, and hoaxes piss me off. I especially hate fake psychics who take advantage of emotionally fragile people for money.

I believe that our world is a ‘low mana’ world, one that has a low connection with magical energy, making it difficult in most circumstances for magic to work in any dramatic ways.

I consider myself in all things an occult philosopher. That’s just how I see and interact with the world.

So basically what I’m saying, is I’m not just some weirdo who believes he’s an anime character. I’m some weirdo who believes in a whole lot of strange stuff, and please don’t diminish that.

about me~~~ woo.
