Okay, I’m confused. What on Earth are fictionkin? I thought that I understood the otherkin community, you know, just as an impartial outsider. Then a person sent me a load of anon hate on my fanfiction, and when I told them that my story was very much canon they claimed that they were Frodo Baggins (fictionkin) and that was not how it happened. Then they reported me. So what is it? I need to understand this person’s thought process as they are now spamming my fanfics with hateful comments. Thx.

Honestly, this person is most likely a troll. 

Fictionkin are basically like otherkin except their kintypes come from popular media. There are multiple theories as to how this is possible but a common one is the multiverse theory. The suggestion that there are endless parallel universes and in one of them their kintype is and/or was real. 

Fictionkin have no claim to ownership over canon, nor fan fiction. 
Most of them (all the ones I know) are perfectly aware of this and would not behave in that manner. 

In the off chance that the person who’s doing this isn’t faking being fictionkin for the purposes of trolling, they’re just an asshole.
