PSA Regarding New Community Websites
Recently, there has been a number of upstart community websites for fictionkin, fictives, and soulbonders. While In Canon fully supports (our staff frequently visits and participates on other websites), we would like to strongly caution our members, readers, and visitors to use caution when using sites that allow open registration without any sort of filtering process. Having been around the community (otherkin and fictionkin) for some time, I have seen many cases where it has caused people hardship, and to become the victim of doxxing, and internet shaming (screenshots), or even appearing in the media as anyone can register. I do not want to see anyone victimized in this way. If you participate in open communities such as these, we suggest considering what you say and how much information you divulge, for your own protection.
In Canon was founded on the principle of being a safe, mature, and free platform for fictionkin, fictionkin, soulbonders, and anyone questioning, to discuss matters important to them, in an environment where we work hard to protect our members as well as encourage speaking openly.
If you have any questions, or concerns, please reach out to the staff via ask or reblog.
– Mod Fortissimo (Aoba)
Incanon is such a great community and a wonderful haven away from trolls and privacy violations. Fortissimo does an above and beyond job maintaining the site’s security both on a member level and a technical level. Its really a privilege to be a mod of such a warm, tight-nit and safe community.
I always think its great to branch out, join new forums and meet new people in the kin community, but it *is* important to remember that once information is public it stays public!
