Why am I not supposed to say “I’m kin with” ? I don’t understand how that’s problematic..?

In my opinion saying ‘kin with’ sounds distancing- it makes it sound more like your kinself is separate from you, rather than a part of your being.

Wait, what do I say then? I’m kind of confused now too..

“Kin of” is better. Here are some more tips.

The reason people dislike “kin with” is because there is a lot of misinformation about what being otherkin actually is. Sometimes people who say “I’m kin with” mean “I really relate to _______” or “I strongly identify with _________” but not that they actually identify as whatever’s in the blank.

More accurate ways (in my opinion) include saying “_______ is my kin type” or “I’m _______-kin” or something.
