“Otherkin is a Tumblr fad only”. This is false
There are sources for otherkin being used in 1990, for when that term was first coined (coined April 18,1990 by someone named Torin on Elfkind Digest, as a way to shorten from saying “elfkind”, “dragonkind”, ect).
Since then, there have been books, such as “A Field Guide to Otherkin” as well as magazine articles and webcomics. [Here is the wikipidia page that contains links to different media where otherkin and therians have been mentioned]
Otherkin did NOT originate on Tumblr.
