Okay… someone explain to me why ghost-kin makes sense?

Why does being dead or disincarnate between lives count as a species?

I imagine that Ghost kin are people who spent a significant and memorable amount of time as ghosts, such that it impacted their identity. Now that they’re incarnated again, they connect more with the memory of being dead than with their previous life, possibly because they were dead for a lot longer.
