No no no. Fictive is specific character. Fictionkin is fictional species. Omg.

I have never heard these terms used this way before. Is there anyone who also uses them this way?

When we on livejournal started to use the term ‘fictionkin’ as a replacement for ‘otakukin’ it was to mean anyone from a fictional universe, specific character or not. I acknowledge the meaning may have drifted a bit, but I have never heard it used in such a way as to disinclude people who were specific characters.

I mean it’s a community thing. We know of some people who prefer anon’s way. We just prefer the definitions you’ve said because there are definitely two different types of experiences there — it feels more separate than the differences between being kin to a specific character or kin to a species.

And I’m not gonna say that the other schema is Omg So Wrong How Dare You, it just… doesn’t make as much as sense to me. :V

Honestly I feel like new words should be coined just to differentiate all three hahah. “Fictive” has gotten so controversial for so many reasons. (but on the other hand, there has been — mediakin as fictional species, fictionkin as character. -Ace)
