Hi there. There is a character I really relate to and connected to pretty much instantly. I know I have a strong connection to him, and a strong understanding of him, but I’m not sure if he is a kin of mine. I don’t have memories though and I feel like thats a big indicator of being fictionkin. How do I know if I’m kin to him or if I just relate to him strongly?

First of all, you’ll need to take your time. Even with an instant reaction, it can take weeks, months, or even years to truly understand…

Do you think there’s some fundamental difference between copinglinks and being fiction-hearted? The way I’ve heard them described by people who identify that way, they sound exactly the same, but the way I see copinglinks being described by the spiritual kin community makes it sound like people are sitting down and making a conscious decision to identify as a certain character.

I think there’s a lot of crossover between the two, but I’d listen mostly to the people who use those labels as to what they…

Could you help me with this? So, if I like a character a lot and I see myself in them, in a sense of strongly identifying with them and having many things in common with them, and thinking “Me” or “That’s me”, “About me”, etc. everytime you see that character, and just seeing yourself as a lot like them, could that be considered being fiction-hearted?

Hey there! That definitely sounds like fiction-hearted to me. 🙂 textbook case.

whats the definition for -hearted? some say it means choosing to identify as [x] but others use it like having a synpath where it means just a strong connection or relating to it. i think it would be more useful to have it mean choosing to id, since synpath works fine for the other definition

I agree with you, somewhat, but I’ll let others come forward and give their definitions of fiction-hearted vs synpath for you. I’m not the clearest…

so i latched on to this character that i did not choose, i identify with them very strongly. sometimes i want to be their friend, sometimes i feel like i want to be them but sometimes i catch myself feeling like i am them? but i don’t believe i am them. would you say i am fiction hearted with them, something else, nothing?

I would say from your ask, and from what it sounds like your experience has been, there is no way to know. Its okay to…

thank you for all the information through your posts, it has helped me a lot. i want to say that i am fiction hearted with a character, but since not many people know what that is, how would i explain it simply? like how fictionkin people say that they are a character, would if you were to tell someone you are fiction hearted, would you say “I identify as”?

If it were me I would say “I am (character) in my heart. I take their identity on as my own.”

do you have any tips for being fiction/otherhearted in the otherkin community? are we welcome there? i’m fictionhearted with a character that i feel so deeply connected to i really do feel as if i am them, but i chose the character myself due to realizing my huge connection with them, and don’t have the memories of it being a past life like actual other/fictionkin so i’m kinda looking into my identity right now. thank you!

Interesting question! The fiction-hearted/otherhearted community is an evolving one, and I’m not sure anyone quite knows how we all ‘fit together’ as a larger community of…
