Here’s what I have been told about copingkin so far.
libragender said:One of my kintypes is kind of coping? Like I don’t really know how to explain it. It’s kind of people who have a spiritual or psychological kintype and use it to cope with a mental illness, trauma, etc.
libragender said: For example, someone like myself with a mental illness that causes them to latch on to and mimic people in their life/not form their own personality might ‘latch on’ to one of their fickintypes and cope in that way.
I asked: So does that mean that the fictionkin type is pre-existing
libragender said: Yes.
I asked: and the ‘coping’ element is merely latching onto it more strongly as a result of trauma in this life?
libragender said: Yes.
libragender said: It’s kind of your own personal choice, really. While you don’t choose the kintype or their source you can choose to use them as a coping method.
So, from what I’ve been told so far, it seems like ‘copingkin’ are just either spiritual or psychological kin who feel damaged by this life and use their pre-existing kin identity as a defense mechanism. If this is true then so called ‘copingkin’ aren’t different from other fictionkin at all.
What I want to know is does this ring true for others who identify as ‘copingkin’? or who use fictionkin as a method of coping?
Here are some questions I’ve been asking psychological kin and ‘coping’ kin.
