you could say that person was holding a prejudiced viewpoint. but not a racist one, in such a situation. and while you might think your views are completely separate from your race, gender, etc, consider that all of these things affect the way you think on a subconscious level?? These things all affect your opinions. (I don’t even disagree with you on the argument you made. Just don’t like the way you handled that anon.)

That’s fair, anon. I agree, the person was prejudiced, and probably not actively racist. I chose my wording carefully, to make them think about what they were saying.

Obviously, the race, color, creed, etc of a writer color their opinions and their words. Likewise, the race, color, creed etc of a reader, color the way they read those words. Everyone brings their own bias to both sides of an argument, and we can never know the full extent of a person’s experiences.

I could say anything I want online about my race. I could say that I was white, black, latino, or even a dog. You have no way to verify any of it, short of espionage, and why would you?

I prefer to withhold the information. Thus, the reader only sees fewer of their biases in my words, and sees only those betrayed by my writing.
