About Your Humble Blogger
Lately, a lot of people I’ve talked to have been surprised that I am not a singlet. Frankly, I don’t mention my system a lot, because none of them are interested in writing for this blog. However, allow me to clear this up.
I am the host of gateway system, wherein most of the members are soulbonds. That is to say, they came in from external sources, and have some interest in meddling with/contributing to my life. They are headmates. They are not kintypes, facets, or shifts. They are all complete, real people with their own opinions, emotions, hobbies, interests and histories, that are not mine, sharing my mind and body.
Originally I co-hosted with another headmate who was called David. David was not a soulbond or a fictive. David had shared this body with me, more or less, since we were both born in it, though we went through cycles of dominance, and being more or less aware of one another. We finally became unable to avoid one another’s presence when other people (fictives and bonds) started moving into the body. Together we maintained a small system of headmates for a number of years. The both of us, as well as them, were active on a shared livejournal at the time, and somewhat active in the multiplicity community at the time.
Around 2010 our system went through an ordeal, a time where we were all in heavy flux. David ended up vanishing, and for quite a while I thought he had gone away altogether. It has since been made clear to me however, that the two of us finally integrated in a stealthy way, with myself being the dominant persona. Given the combined closeness and enmity between us, it was probably a good thing.
It took a while after that for our system to ‘even out’ again, and for a while I was pretty much the only one in the body I was aware of. It was strange, frankly. In the last few years however, things have gone back to ‘normal’, and as I said, I currently host a system, mostly of soulbonds. We are fairly numerous, however, with few stable frontrunners.
For the curious, here are our main front runners. If anyone is curious to talk to them, some are more or less inclined to chat.
Felix: Myself. Host. I am the only one currently who was born in this body. I am fictionkin by reincarnation and was Ken Ichijouji/The Digimon Kaiser, and Vriska in my past life. Originally two people, known as Mordax (the Kaiser) and David (Ken) who more or less merged circa 2010. I’ll be 30 years old as of January, am a writer, a nerd and a pedant. Your humble blogger.
Julian Valmont: The soulbond with the most seniority, currently. He was a system member prior to the 2010 shake up, left and came back. Julian is originally from the cartoon show Jackie Chan Adventures. He was a 40ish year old British born businessman from San Fransciso. He inherited a shipping business from his father, but prefered to use it to further his (mostly illegal) dealing of antiques, curiosities, and occult artifacts. Julian likes to portray himself as an unflappable, dignified man of wealth and taste, but he is secretly pretty much a nerd who likes bunny slippers and getting drunk. He is an age slider, and tends to be anywhere from 15-45. Doesn’t front all that often because he’s too grumpy to be bothered with it.
The Black Queen: Currently the primary fronter aside from me, she’s a soulbond from Homestuck. She has been around since around 2012 now, and made her way pretty forcefully into the system. I was originally not a fan of her but we get along better now. She is immortal monarch of a race of lazy, ill tempered bug aliens who she secretly loves dearly, even though she’s a bit of a cold bitch. Canon-wise she comes from prior to the entry of the players in her timeline which she describes as ‘peaceful without any humans or trolls running around breaking things’. She has a very forceful personality, and a terrible sense of humor. She is pretty much a meme loving shitlord who spams emoticons to make people uncomfortable and loves to watch bad movies. Really bad movies. Her favorite movie is Son of the Mask. She considers herself fiction-hearted to the Alien Queen from Alien.
Dorian Conner: Probably the next most common fronter after the Queen. No canon source, he was originally simply an RP character before he kicked open the door sat down and made himself comfortable. Dorian is an irascible redhead with an obsession with the golden age of piracy, mood swings, and all the emotional subtlety of a brick to the face. He’s also incredibly gay, and has serious father figure issues. Often refers to himself as Captain Dorian Conner, and is also an age slider, anywhere from 10-30s.
Miles Edgeworth: Fronts every now and again, especially if its getting in fights with his ‘sister’ Franziska. From the Ace Attorney series, specifically post Gyakuten Kenji 2. Formerly a famous, ruthless and perfect Prosecutor, Miles pretty much gave that up to globetrot and solve mysteries. Because he’s a huge dork who loves sentai series, and eats ramen pizza. But that embarrasses him terribly. He’s fairly good humored with his friends, but often comes off as overly serious and quite intense, especially in an argument.
Jean (The Master): The Master from Doctor Who. Generally calls himself Jean, or occasionally Diabolus, or some other alias he’s cooked up. He has no stable appearance, age or even gender, but tends toward male. He’s a mad time traveler who is obsessed with the Doctor, who was originally his best friend, turned enemy (sort of???). Jean refuses to discuss his timeline, or his actual connection to any particular version of Doctor Who, but he does refer to at least some things the master has done in both the classic and current series as things he did, so… He doesn’t front often, partially because he tends to cause trouble and partially because he causes the body fatigue and stress by doing so.
We have a bunch of other members, but those are the primary fronters at the moment.
