Reminder for Fictionkin

dragonade4kin:

Just because you were someone in a former life or another timeline, you don’t have rights to the canon. Even though you may disagree with the creator for a number of reasons, just because you believe in the multiverse theory doesn’t exempt you from things like being a jerk to the creator or copyright laws.

That’s just the version of you they found, and it’s the only version of you most fan artists know. Don’t harass or heckle anyone into doing something they don’t want to do, just because you’re fictionkin. Don’t tell artists to take their work down or let you tag it as “kin” or “me”.

Most importantly, if you meet the creator anywhere, DO NOT BOTHER THEM ABOUT FICTIONKIN. Let them know you’re grateful for the work, because that’s probably how you remembered anything concrete, rather than feelings or thoughts. Most people don’t know about or care about fictionkin. Just like you’d be upset if someone forced their beliefs on you, so would other people.

What you know as an inner truth doesn’t make it less of a belief to other people. They don’t know it as truth, so you’re pushing beliefs on them. Let the creators and fan artists do what they do. If you really want a specific piece, commission someone but respect their policies.

Please be respectful of the majority that isn’t ‘kin.
