Soulbonds and tulpas are two different kinds headmates. Heamates are people who exist in a body/mindspace with other headmates. Generally people who have/are headmates are called multiples.

Soulbonds are spiritually based headmates. They are independent entities from other worlds drawn by an emotional connection to share a body here in this world.

Tulpas are headmates that are created deliberately by someone, and called into existence for a purpose. They are independent entities created in the mind.
