Fictionkin and Fictives, the difference
Fictives are walk-ins. Fictives appear in an already living body in this world fully aware and conscious of their identity as a certain character. There is no doubt or period of discovery, they simply are fully that person. Even though they may exist and participate in life on this earth, they have no separate earth identity, but remain fully their fictional self.
Fictionkin are ‘reincarnated’, either literally or metaphorically/psychologically speaking. Fictiokin are born into this world as human babies, unaware of who they were in the past. They have a human identity separate from their previous identity. When they become aware of their past self there is a period of self-discovery and questioning. Even after a fictionkin has fully accepted their fictional identity, it does not replace or interfere with their new earth identity, it is simply a new part of it.
Historical note: The term fictive is short for ‘fictive headmate’ and originated in the natural multiplicity community online.
no??? fictives are fictional introjects. Introjects form through data that the rest of the system has gathered through experience, meaning they are only based on the data available and how it’s interpreted. They probably differ a little and aren’t *exact* replicas of whatever they’re based on, even if they don’t really have an identity outside of being that character. They also don’t just? pop in out of nowhere with everyone else automatically fully aware of their existence and identity?
kin just means you have a strong attachment with or as something. Reincarnation is one out of dozens of ideas as to why someone is kin with/as something.
Hi there! I’m sure you didn’t mean to be disrespectful or invalidating but I do have to point out a couple of things.
Not all headmates, and specifically not all fictves are alters. Some were created in other ways, psychologically, and some believe in spiritual origins for their headmades. There’s not just one thing that causes them.
Also, being kin does not ‘just mean you have a very strong attachment to something’ and it disappoints me to hear that people believe this,
