In case this isn’t common knowledge: kintypes and spirit guides are TOTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS.
A kintype is you. Yourself. There is no separation.
If you’re able to interact with a nonhuman entity, it is not a kintype. You may very well have a daemon, a soulbond, or in appropriate cases a totem animal – watch your toes for appropriation here, because those with totem animals are usually educated on their own culture and aware of what it is. An exception here would be a faceted multiple system where a person interacts with alters who represent their kintypes.
Example: my family totem is the phoenix. I am NOT a phoenixkin. I’m a dragonkin and fictionkin. I can somewhat interact with Phoenix, and can experience cameo phantom wings as a gift. Everyone in my family line can do the same, even if they’re not nonhuman. Again, there is a distinction between that creature and yourself.
An otherkin can have a spiritual guide, but having a spiritual guide does not make you an otherkin. Believing yourSELF to be nonhuman does.
