People like those below are the reason I am sometimes defensive over the meaning of fictionkin. Its not because I don’t think people with a diverse group of similar experiences can use the label- I do. Its that when you don’t watch out, you get people like this.
These are people who have made it clear they don’t believe that being kin is a real thing, and they don’t care about people they do. They have just taken on the label of fictionkin as a trend, and as an excuse to harass and shame actual kin.
These people are anti-kin, masquerading as kin.
I have taken pains to remove identifying information because some of the people are minors, and all of them are drama mongers who feed on negative attention.
But their bad behavior needs to be exposed.
Don’t seek these people out, they’re not worth the effort.
It’s stuff like this that makes me wish otherkin never, ever moved onto tumblr. I mean that with full sincerity, even if it would have taken longer for new kin to find the communities. tumblr’s environment has been more embarrassing and detrimental to kin as a collective than any individual troll can hope to be.
