You do not “have kins/otherkins”.
They’re not objects or stamps or names that you collect
You are one
You “have kintypes/fictotypes/theriotypes”
Some of you aren’t even trying to sound like you know what you’re talking about. Which I guess is better than being pretentious brats. But all the same? Don’t.
does the language used really matter all that much though? like i understand that it’s a grammatical issue but like…does it hurt anyone?
Yes. Imagine if you said ‘I have brunettes”, or “I have Americans.” The meaning is completely different
the way i read it is closer to “i have brunette” or “i have american” – it’s clear what they mean, it’s just shit grammar. i guess my point is that if you understand what someone’s saying, is it necessary to criticize their grammar? it’s one thing if they ask for help – but these people are just talking about their kintypes. it’s not doing any damage
Its not clear though because being kin is a difficult concept for some people to grasp, and there is a definite correlation between people who say “I have kins” and people who mistake being kin for having soulbonds/fictives and vice versa.
