FAQ – Otherkin

hanako-dog:

1. “What are otherkin?”

Otherkin are people or beings who identify as something non-human. Examples include, but are not limited to, cats, dragons, mermaids, aliens, stars, and flowers.

2. “How do you know?”

It’s an internal feeling; as if our soul is partially or entirely that thing. Some otherkin might even have memories from past lives!

3. “Past lives? Like reincarnation is real?”

Yes. There are legitimately documented reincarnates– for example, a little girl was brought to a town where she had memories of being an old woman. She could name all of the townspeople regardless of their efforts to confuse her. She knew exactly who they were and where she was, even though she had never been there in this life.

4. “Oh. Huh. Am I otherkin?”

Look into numerous resources while doing a bit of self-exploration. You’ll be able to feel it if you are. I’d like to think everyone is to some degree– it’s just a matter of how much it really affects you in this life.

4. “Okay, I’m otherkin. What’s next?”

Your choice! Do with it what you will. Look into it, make friends with otherkin who share your kintype(s), express your kintype through fashion, decorations, and whatnot…or don’t do any of those things. It’s totally up to you.

5. “How is it possible that someone could be kin of something that doesn’t exist in this world?”

Primarily by the multiverse theory. A ton of scientists support the theory that there are an infinite number of universes out there with their own sets of natural properties.

There might be a universe where gravity doesn’t exist, a universe where faeries, centaurs, and talking non-human animals exist, or a universe where you can create fire from your hands. It’s all plausible. Someone could be reincarnated between universes.

Also, who says they don’t exist in this world? Do you have any idea how much of our world remains unexplored? The answer is: most of it. Humble yourself.
