I’m sorry but I don’t agree with kin types. No amount of research or talking to those who identify as kin makes any sense to me. I had someone explain it was like spirit animals. I’m sorry, what you’re describing does not sound like a spirit animal. And I find that horribly offensive. To me, it’s mocking spirit animals. As someone who is both bisexual and trans, I can understand a whole lot of shit. But this. I just….don’t. It sounds like DID. My friend has DID. I had her read a number of people’s tales of their feelings. She said it sounds a lot like what she goes through every day. I have a few friends going into the psych field and have graduated who’ve said the same thing.

I’m just saying.

>”otherkin is like spirit animals/is mocking spirit animals!”

Otherkin and spirit animals are two completely different things. Spirit animals are more “This animal is my spiritual guide” while otherkin is more “My soul is that of this animal”

>”otherkin sounds like DID!”

[citation needed]

Again, two entirely different things. DID is more “There’s other people in my mind and they can control this body” while otherkin is more “I used to be [thing], but I’m human now, and I’m still one single person.”

>”i only have one single friend with a certain mental illness so everything they say about it is what everybody with that mental illness experiences!”

[citation needed]

>”I have friends who graduated from the psych field, so they’re experts on the subject!”
