I know that spiritualpsychological kin experience things mostly the same, but what if you can’t tell if your kinship is from spiritual or mental cause?
It all comes down to belief and what you’re willing to call yourself. Its just about what makes you comfortable.
Nobody knows for sure what causes being kin, ‘spiritual’ and ‘psychological’ are really just our best guesses and what feel right to us!
It’s not like you have to choose. Some people don’t have a stance either way, either because they don’t feel that they can tell or because they actively don’t care or feel that it matters. When I feel I have to I pick psychological but strictly speaking I’m agnostic, and I think there are at least a few others who feel similarly though I haven’t seen them call it that.
ya, some of us are actively atheist ;p and there are way more theories than just two. it’s like asking “is this genetics or my childhood” – maybe not either, maybe a bunch of reasons, maybe no reason, maybe i don’t care at all. frameacloud is working on talking about theories (at least 32 exist!)
Yep. Remember that “spiritual” and “psychological” literally just define the theory you believe in. They’re not “types of otherkin”, they’re just shorthand for “I believe my otherkinness has a psychological cause” or “I treat my ‘kinness as a spiritual thing”.
Which reflects different approaches and, in some cases, different experiences, but that’s about it.
And some folks think it’s both or neither. The identity and experiences that come there with are basically the same. It’s a matter of what one believed caused it in the first place.
