I would like to makes this clear to my followers and anyone in the otherkin tag.
Kinity is not a mental illness.
Kinity is not a delusion.
Kinity is not a gender.
Kinity is not “transspecies.”
Kinity is not a religion.
Kinity is not a scientifically proven theory.
Otherkin can be delusional, transgender, non-binary, mentally ill, atheist, or religious and have these things influence their perception of being kin.
But that is not what being otherkin is on its own.
Kinity is an identity.
Kinity is internal.
Kinity is involuntary.
Kinity is non-human.
Kinity is not something you choose or control, it is something inside you, it is you.
It can be spiritual, psychological, neurological, it is only explained by what you believe.
Is your kintype a past life that affects you?
Is your kintype your soul?
Is your kintype an explanation of your mind?
Is your kintype something your brain formed when you were born?
These are all possible explanations of kinity, all equally legitimate. Kinity is an identity, and how it is that way is explained by your beliefs as someone who is otherkin.
