@daleeny The art that you created to illustrate the idea that kin are delusional and dangerous to themselves is perpetuating false, harmful stereotypes of a group that does include members who are at risk of suicide.
Your assertion that a harmless spiritual/mental belief is somehow to cause others to commit suicide is dangerous and hurtful. It illustrates to kin who are at risk that they will never be understood or accepted.
Likewise, whether you meant it to or not your image shows an example of bullying and harassing kin being what drives them to harm themselves. You depict a person who has been laughed at and ‘encouraged to do bird things’ until they jump out a window. How is that not an example of bullying someone into dangerous behavior?
Also, by asserting that harmless beliefs such like being kin are somehow dangerously mentally ill on their own, you are trivializing the experiences that actually mentally ill people people suffer.
When my fiancee was in college she witnessed a dorm mate of hers take his own life.. This person wasn’t kin. He had taken a huge cocktail of drugs and was yelling and screaming, before they he threw himself out of a window.
Insult the beliefs of kin if you must, but don’t go around trivializing real mental illness and experiences of actual suicidal people. And most of all, don’t create art that encourages people to commit suicide.
