kintypes =/= past lives
Past lives, in all honesty, have NOTHING inherently to do with being otherkin. Past lives are a possible explanation for why one is otherkin, not a thing that makes one otherkin in and of itself.
If you lived a past life as X, Y, or Z thing, and it doesn’t still affect you to a noteable degree here and now in a way that would lead you to feel truly nonhuman/fictional (in the case of fictionkin) then it’s not a kintype. I could have lived a past life as a gecko but I don’t experience any gecko-like feelings here and now, so it’s not a theriotype.
Honestly I think people focus so much on what they think causes their ‘kin feelings that they entirely miss the point of just being ‘kin as an experience.
I’m someone who ascribes my kinness to past lives, and the above is absolutely true. If you don’t experience your past life effecting you in this one to a notable degree, that life is not a kintype.
Being kin is something that effects you emotionally/mentally/spiritually to a degree that you can’t ignore it.
