i think i may be fictionkin, but i’m not really sure how to proceed? how do i know if who i actually am is this character? i have a lot of the signs that are listed on your website, and i’ve done some light research on fictionkin, but i’m utterly lost. what do i do?

Unfortunately, anon, there’s no strict guidebook to this kind of thing, and there never will be. Awakening and understanding yourself as kin is a personal and unique process that everyone goes through a little differently.

Something as strange as being fictionkin can take a long time to accept. It took me a long time. I thought the signs and similarities were coincidences or just not real, but they never went away. And because they never went away, I had to find a name for them. And that name was fictionkin.

How do you know if you really are that character? I guess in the end you  just *know*. You have experiences and signs that point toward it and you can’t shake them.

My advice for now is maybe make a blog, or a personal notebook, or something to keep your feelings and talk about your journey. Write down how you feel about the character, how you feel about being kin, what your experiences are, etc. Keep pictures and fanfic you like in there if thats your thing, or aesthetics that remind you of that kintype. Take time to understand your feelings and let them settle.
