Nothing, really. If you’re really curious about it, you could ask them if they’ve ever heard of fictionkin and see how they react.

From what I remember (though my memory of the show is kind of spotty), Digimon never actually “die”, they just get rendered into data fragments and then reform again. Maybe he’s still there.
