I would advise against using “species dysphoria” as its very problematic and tries to use a term for a spirituality that is used for trans people (which is biological) this is very harmful to the trans community.
This has been brought up for discussion before (by myself among others). The consensus from actual trans people within the community is that dysphoria is the correct word to use, and its more harmful/confusing not to use it.
Also, “species dysphoria” is a reconnected term used by those psychologists who have written about otherkin and I’ve even heard it used among a number of psychologists and therapists who have had otherkin patients. (Plus the term has been around for well over 20 years now at the very least…)
Another community can’t tell another different community to not use medial terms for their condition just because they don’t think their experiences with dysphoria is as legitimate, or because they don’t think any other groups should be able to call their dysphoria… dysphoria.
ALSO, not all otherkin see their being otherkin as spiritual as only roughly half of otherkin do. (And some trans folks see their condition as spiritual in origin.) So way to go dismissing several portions of both groups, OP.
Once again I’ll repeat that the transgender community does not own the term “dysphoria”. The term actually predates the organizing of the transgender community and refers to a discomfort felt in relation to one’s identity. It has absolutely no inherent meaning as to what sort of dysphoria is being referenced.
