Not implying that these are bad things, but the fact that there are so many blogs being made all the time about kin positivity, venting, support, aesthetics, fashion, networks, and other general fluff makes me wonder: how many are legitimately kin seeking community of other kin, and how many are just young folks looking for a sense of community anywhere they can find it? Again, not that it’s bad to want community, but I’m willing to bet that in a different situation, some of these blogs would not be made and these people would not be calling themselves kin. The idea of being part of a community of a (mostly) unknown subculture, suddenly centered around personal aesthetics and blind acceptance, is very appealing for people already dealing with heavy shit and feeling a lack of support in their various struggles.
But that’s not what being kin is about.
