Hello! I am very new to the otherkin/fictionkin community. I’m still not fully sure as to what it all means, who my ‘kins’ are – if I even have any at all. This blog has been a massive help, and I thank you for it! But what I want to know is if you have to identify as the same gender as your kin? For example, I am a cis female but one of the characters I think I might(!) identify with is male. Help?
Gender is essentially meaningless when it comes to fictionkin/otherkin. The person you’re kin to may be the same sex as your body, or a different sex. The same gender, or another gender. Many fictionkin are transgender because their spiritual/mental ‘body’ remembers being the opposite sex but not all.
