No one can make you do anything. If you don’t want to publicly or privately associate yourself with an identity you remember, that’s perfectly fine.

Do you recommend watching the entire source of your canon before confirming/entertaining the possibility of a kintype? I have a memory of working with something like an elecmon but I don’t think that matches anyone in the anime anyway. But I don’t want to talk about what I remember and have anyone tell me it’s impossible because of something I haven’t seen? Maybe I should watch it to fact check?

Hello there! I’m new to kin and I have a few questions of you don’t mind answering them! question 1) I think I might kin with a character and I’m not quite sure but I have extremely strong feelings toward said character and I’m not sure how to go about them. What does this mean? Question 2) Is it normal, when kinning, to think “that’s me!” when you see a character you have strong feelings toward? Is it normal for a fiction-hearted to be uncomfortable around doubles too? I know kins are okay or not okay with doubles but I’m not sure if fiction-hearted applies too.

I haven’t heard much about fictionhearted people being uncomfortable around doubles, however, everyone has different personal preferences and that’s okay.

Regarding “xenomnesia”: It’s possible you have a mental connection with a character. Or empathic. Some kind of connection that let you share thoughts or memories. Or maybe even: Is there any kind of otherkin “vessel” concept in use? Channeling someone? Or having them give you thoughts/memories somehow? (I’m an empath, and I know a lot of my synpath [non-kin, but very deeply understanding] connections have this effect on me, especially my primary “soulbond”.)

Absolutely. There’s lots of reasons that this phenomenon could occur. Fictionflickers come to mind too as a possible source for xenomnesia.

Is it possible to not realize you’re kin with a character right away? I had finished a game and while I thought this character was interesting and the world was very easy to become immersed in, I didn’t feel anything out of the ordinary. Now I’m replaying it, months later, and I’m suddenly hit by vivid memories and feelings.

Absolutely. Sometimes it doesn’t hit you right away, the time has to be right for it to get you.

I think it’s cool how you treat people with weird kintypes with the same respect you’d treat anyone else. I’ve seen “elders” in the kin community talk about how they’d reject people whose kintypes were too “out there”, and I think that’s incredibly unfair.
