So I’m aware that you can’t choose your kintype, but I have a bit of a question. See, I’m still new to the community and terms, though I’ve been awakened for years. I am a Cybertronian who lived and died as a member of the Decepticons. But in the course of living this life, I’ve had a very different set of experiences, and don’t agree with those ideals or goals anymore. I know I used to be one, but I don’t consider myself a Decepticon any longer. Does that count as me “choosing” who I am?

That absolutely doesn’t count as ‘chosing your kintypes’, it counts as choosing to determine your own future and ideals. Maybe you can call yourself a cybertronian…

About tagging art as me I don’t understand because I don’t do this as otherkin but because i identify with a character, same as other fandom people tagging as my son, my husband, my child, etc. I thought this was the same as tagging with your love for a character so I’m so confused, I was happy to see that in fandom you can tag your love and fascination for a character or show and I thought tagging me was another way to do this, not a kin thing. I see non kin doing that too with fanart.

Thank you for your reply, I understand and it’s a good point but I think that while classifications are good to make things clear dividing a small community with close experiences in two against the wishes of some of them is not ideal. I also think the otherkin community wants only people who believe it’s an spiritual thing lately, I mean between coping kin and people who believe being kin is psychological or anything not spiritual there isn’t such a big diference and both tend to be excluded.
