(part 1) The otherkin community has interested me for a long time and I admit that in the beginning I did not understand it and had some less than nice thoughts about it simply because of that, but now I’ve read up on it, especially here on your blog, and I have found that I can relate? A lot? This is all very confusing to me, but I think several experiences I haven’t understood earlier might be signs that I’m fictionkin. I have identified with a character for a long time and I thought that
(Part 2) it was only to the level everyone gets, but after reading your posts I’m starting to see that might not be it. I can relate to the memories part often by having very vivid dreams of things that aren’t from my life but also memories, I find myself occasionally forgetting to use his name and instead saying “I” when talking about the story he’s in, I also feel very strongly that we are the same and I relate to his story even tho it’s not that much like my life. Can that be fictionkin?
That does sound like fictionkin to me. Lets go through your post:
- sustained feelings over time that don’t go away
- vivid dreams/memories
- confusion of current identity
- completely different experiences, but still relating to his life
All those are definitely strong signs of being kin. Only you can say ‘for sure’ if you believe this character is a part of you/your past life/etc. However, from my perspective, your experiences match up with how I would describe typical fictionkin experiences.
