I and some friends of mine have seen people using their kintypes to justify posting streams of hate in shipping tags. How do you feel about this topic? Does being kin with a character justify criticism or sending hate to others who have headcanons and ships that you do not like due to events in your canon?

I’ll tell you how I feel. As I’ve said before, its complete and utter bullshit.

Being kin does not give you the right to tell other people how to enjoy what, for them, is a purely fictional fandom. In fact, in my opinion, nothing gives you the right to tell other people how to enjoy their fandom. Kin have no right to push their memories on anyone as canon, or to complain about the way the fandom ‘ships’ them.

Trust me, I hate the way that the fandoms treat Ken and Vriska, but that doesn’t give me the right to tell people what to do in their funtimes.

Frankly in my opinion if you send hate to someone for their ships for any reason you’re an asshole. Blacklists exist for a reason. If you’re upset by something that gets talked about in fandom, blacklist it, or stay away from the fandom in general.
