Can you explain the difference between gateway systems and soulbonders? Is people gaining someone else’s soulbond a thing that’s possible?

The answer is its a bit of a blurry line. Lets see if I can rattle out some of the differences and such.

Soulbonders specifically believe their bonds originate outside of their minds, from real other worlds/universe. While there are some gateway systems that believe the same thing, there are others that believe that their headmates and the other worlds they come from are creations of their mind/mental disorder.

Some people with DID consider the term ‘system’ to only apply to people with Dissociative Identity Disorder.

Not all soulbonds are able to front/use the body of their soulbonder. Some only speak in the soulbonder’s mind. Some can only communicate non-verbally through emotional waves and/or images.

Soulbonds gravitate around a single soulbonder/host, whether that person is a singlet or a member of a multiple system.

Bonds are generally concerned in some way with their soulbonder’s emotional well-being, and often have a positive relationship with them, which may be anything from a teacher-like relationship, to a sibling-like relationship, or even a romantic relationship.

If a soulbonder’s bonds do front/use their body, the soulbonder may not dissociate, or lose time or memory when they do so, even if they are not co-conscious.

Bonds often interact with one another internally, and the soulbonder is aware of what they are doing in headspace.

Soulbonders may or may not be able to call or dismiss new bonds deliberately, more like a medium than a multiple.
