how to tell if a memory is legit? how to remember things? thanks so much

Its hard, kidbunny. I don’t have any answers. I don’t even know how to tell for sure if a memory from my childhood, or from last week is ‘legit’. Everybody’s memory is fallible, unfortunately. 

For me the biggest indicators of a memory being real are:

• it fits in with other memories that you have of the same life/world
• it is remembered in a similar way to the way you remember your memories of this life as opposed to the way you remember shows or books
• you remember it the same every time you think about it
• memories are multi-sensory, not just visual

For me, those are usually a good indication of whether a memory is legitimate or not, but there is no hard and fast way to know.
