I want to talk to my therapist about my fictionkin stuff but I’m worried about her reaction. Do you know if anyone has had experience with this? Telling a therapist you’re kin. How did it go? (feel free to publish)

While personally I haven’t talked to a therapist about my otherkin identity (mostly due to my struggle to talk to people who I don’t know), I have talked to some other people who have. They had some particularly nice therapists, ones who wanted to hear more about it, because they believe that learning about other people’s beliefs is extremely beneficial.

I feel straight up telling her you are this character probably wouldn’t be the best way to go. Maybe speak to her about what it means beforehand, and slowly introduce it to her. Be sure to empathise the fact you don’t believe you are his character physically, because this will hopefully make sure she doesn’t think it’s a hallucination/delusion.

I wish you luck with asking her how it goes!

P.S. If she isn’t wiling to listen/help, maybe you need a new therapist? But if she is good for all your other needs, don’t worry. Just make sure you know your options are open, as some people you just don’t click with.
