Otherkin History Tidbit
In January 5th 2007, the host
of Coast to Coast AM Ian Punnett spent much of roughly three hours dedicated to
calls from people who identified as nonhuman (otherkin). Punnet began the show
by bring up a recent email he had received by someone who identified as being
part elf and who had brought up the topic of otherkin. This email and others is
what inspired Punnett to have a show dedicated for otherkin to call in and talk
their experiences. Punnett defined otherkin as “people who believe they have
nonhuman souls” and repeatedly throughout the night made the distinction
between identifying with or connecting with an animal on a symbolic level from
people who really identify as nonhuman or believe at their core that they
(non-physically) nonhuman. Those who called included a man named Chris who identified
as a dragon, a woman named Alex who felt like she was a dragon in some way, a
man named Lance who identified as both a fox and wolf, Barbra who felt that
she had either the “soul of a dog” or was the “reconnection of a dog,” and
others. One of those who called in, named Scott said he had felt like he had
been a white dragon in a past life since he was 17 in 1989 and had never even
known a term for such people existed until listening to the show. Another one
of these interviewed was named Jason who identified as a shire horse and felt
he was a horse in a past life. While talking, Punnett noted that it was Jason
who had also emailed him about the topic of otherkin as well some time ago, and
that they had already talked a bit back and forth. While on the line, Jason
said he had experienced past life memories since early childhood and over the
years had met a few other “horses in human form” as he put it.Source – Punnett, Ian. “Otherkin Calls and
