How should one go about coming to terms with having a kintype that they consider embarrassing, strange, ridiculous, etc.? I’m not sure if you’ve answered this before, and I’m sorry if you have, but I’ve been struggling with “beating myself up” (for the lack of a better phrase) over having a kintype and it’s not really fun.. (Sorry if this is worded poorly. Don’t really know how to put it, haha.)

Oof, its a struggle, anon. I have seen some people with really conventionally ‘embarrassing’ kintypes. Donald Duck, and Thomas the Tank Engine are the most recent. But I’ve also seen people kin from abridged series, and back in the old days I knew someone who was kin of a character from the direct to DVD Cinderella sequel.

The thing is, from an outside viewpoint, all of our kintypes are exactly as believable as one another. Bugs Bunny and Macbeth are, to people who aren’t kin, just as likely as one another. They’re also just as likely in terms of multiverse theory!

In fact, you should be proud of having an ‘embarrassing’ kintype in my opinion, because your existence helps prove that we aren’t all just picking awesome characters to play pretend. If you say you’re Pinky from Pinky and the Brain, and you post about it passionately, with thought and self-reflection, then you are doing the community a solid every time you post.

Don’t be afraid to be a part of the community just because you have a weird kintype. The anti-kin may not be able to tell who is trolling, but we can. Sincerity comes through, and if you sincerely believe in your kintype you deserve as much respect as any of us.

And frankly, when you boil any kintype down it gets ridiculous. I’m a shitty mary sue alien original written to be a parody of internet trolls. wow.
