How does one go about making a copinglink identity? If it’s an OC, should a lot of thought be put into it? Can you evolve it as you go?
Hi anon, I’ve never made a copinglink identity, but here’s how I would go about it if I was going to.
People who are or have been copinglinkers, please chime in with your own methods for establishing your identities!

Firstly, pick who you’re going to use as your link. This should be a character who is special or important to you, and preferably one who makes you feel good and important. If you don’t know who you want to use, you can ask yourself what characters seem similar to you, or what characters have traits that you want to improve in yourself.
For example, if you are having problems with anxiety, you could pick a link who is calm, or able to deal with anxiety.
You could also pick a link who you perceive as having their own problems with anxiety.
Once you’ve made your selection, you’ll want to start establishing the link. Here’s how I would go about it.
- Immerse yourself in the source material
- whenever you see the character tell yourself that its you
- try to put yourself in the charcter’s shows as you engage in their source material
- write diary entries or reflections based on events the character has been through.
- write diary entries or reflections about things happening in your life, from the point of view of/in the voice of the character
- create a blog for yourself as that character and react as them, post material that you both enjoy
- call yourself by the character’s name, and ask others (within reason) to do the same.
- When you find yourself faced with stress, trauma or other problems, act as if it was the character who was facing them. Tell yourself that you ARE them, and you have all their strengths and ability to deal with the situation.
