I very strongly resonate with a character, but I don’t really understand yet what it means to be kin with one or if the feelings I have can be counted as being kin. I don’t consider myself to BE said character in any different timeline or reality, but I do very much feel a deep connection to them. Would it be okay to ask for some advice?

Hey anon, I’m happy to help.

Since you don’t consider yourself to BE this character, then the connection you’re looking to describe wouldn’t be called kin. However, there are some other things it might be. Let me pull some definitions for you. Take a look esspecially at fictionhearted, synpath, and fictive/soulbond. Do any of these sound right?

Fictionkin: Someone who discovers through personal experiences and phenomena that they are spiritually or mentally any person who appears as a character in fiction, or a member of a fictional species.

Copinglinker: Someone who takes on the identity/persona of any creature, or fictional character in order to cope with mental illness, trauma or other emotional factors.

Fictionhearted: Someone with a strong emotional or spiritual connection to any fictional character or fictional species, without believing that they are that character or species.

Synpath: Any creature, or fictional character that a person strongly identifies with or feels an empathic bond with.

Fictive: A headmate who has the whole identity of any person who appears as a character in fiction, or member of a fictional species.

Soulbond: The spirit of a person who appears as a character in fiction who shares the body of a person on this earth.
