do you have any tips for being fiction/otherhearted in the otherkin community? are we welcome there? i’m fictionhearted with a character that i feel so deeply connected to i really do feel as if i am them, but i chose the character myself due to realizing my huge connection with them, and don’t have the memories of it being a past life like actual other/fictionkin so i’m kinda looking into my identity right now. thank you!
Interesting question! The fiction-hearted/otherhearted community is an evolving one, and I’m not sure anyone quite knows how we all ‘fit together’ as a larger community of people yet.
I think as long as all sides are respectful of one another’s experiences, and understand that they are very fundamentally different, the kin and hearted communities should have no trouble interacting. We have a lot of common ground.
Some tips for fiction-hearts interacting in the kin community.
- make sure when you contribute in kin circles others know you’re hearted, not kin
- be understanding that being kin can be a much more traumatic and unwanted experience than being hearted
- don’t be afraid to speak up and interact
- but don’t try to push people around/police them in their own communities (not that I think you would do that!)
hope that helps!
