is it possible to be fictionkin if you also know yourself to be neurotypical? from most of what ive seen, most fictionkin or fictives “manifest” from bpd or something like that to help control their identity

While tumblr can present a skewed version of things, the vast majority of otherkin and fictionkin are likely ‘neurotypical’.

Historically speaking mental illness and differing neurology have not been discussed within the community as a ‘cause’ of being kin until the last couple of years. If you peruse the older communities, livejournal, private forums, and old BBS you will see that up until recently most kin have discussed their beliefs in term of spiritual origin.

This is not meant to erase the experience of the recently emergent kin who understand their beliefs as part of their mental illness. However, it is necessary to note that this is a new phenomenon which has grown primarily on tumblr and does not necessarily make up the majority of kin beliefs.

In other words, its totally possible to be neurotypical and fictionkin.
