I think this is gonna be part of a longer ask, I’m sorry. I actually had a hunch of my kintype for a few months now but I never really “did” anything with it. It was just a thing that existed and I never bothered to dig deeper but then I met a friend from canon and he told me about the stuff like memories and all that and I dediced to dig deeper and now I am really confused about my identity for a few days?? Like, I know who I am in some way. I could recite my whole life when asked (1/?)

(2/?) And I don’t miss any memories from the past days or experience any changes in my personality. But I feel a lot more like my kintype all of a sudden. Some emotions seem to be different in a subtle way and when someone would ask me my name there’s a 50/50 chance that I would answer “wrong” which would confuse the hell out of everyone. I’m autistic so Im afraid Im just making this up and it’s just a nother special interest of mine and the whole kin stuff never really applied to me (2/?)

(3/3) Yet at the same time I experience stuff like missing friends and feeling homesick a lot stronger. I even cried one day because I realised I would most likely never see a certain friend or my siblings again. I have no words for what this is right now but it’s really getting to me and I have no idea what to do

What you’re going through right now is definitely a kin thing, @acidmatze . Its what’s called a mental shift

Shift is short for ‘shapeshift’, and kin shifts are temporary state of being where your mind, astral spirit, or dreamself changes to become closer or more fully that of your kintype.

For example a wolfkin who was mentally shifted would experience their body fully as if it was a wolf’s body with paws and a tail, and their senses of hearing and smell might become heightened in their perception.

A fictionkin who is shifted would basically revert/change to the mentality of their kintype, which suppresses their current/earth identity, which is what you are experiencing.

Kin shifts don’t last forever, and if you find that you’re experiencing a distressing shift there are ways to ground yourself and shift back through grounding, relaxation, meditation, and directed thought.
