is it valid to ID as a character who speaks more than one language, but not be fluent in the other language yourself? sorry if this was worded poorly or came across rudely

I’m not going to discuss ‘IDs’ and whether or not they’re ‘valid’.  As far as I’m concerned its an irrelevant question because any identity you have is a valid identity.

If you’re asking if its acceptable/normal to be kin of someone who spoke a different language than you, then the answer is of course. There’s no reason you would have to speak the same language as your kintype/kinself. When I was Ken, I spoke Japanese. Japanese is very familiar and sounds ‘right’ to me, but I can’t speak it any better than one would expect.
